HCL Informix is an enterprise-class database offered on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace. It features a cloud-delivered, ready-to-run, fast, resilient, and scalable database that manages relational, object-relational, and dimensional data types. Running HCL Informix on Azure offers the complete features of an HCL Informix on-premises deployment without the complexity and risk of managing your own infrastructure.  

The Microsoft Azure Marketplace saves you time by streamlining the process of sourcing and implementing HCL Informix. You can subscribe to and start using HCL Informix quickly. Plus, operating expenditure (OpEx) through a cloud subscription can be more flexible than capital expenditure (CapEx) since you don’t have to budget in advance for a new expenditure. 

Microsoft Azure provides the infrastructure to run HCL Informix in a flexible, scalable, and cost-effective manner in the cloud. The Virtual Machine Image for Informix contains all the information required to launch a virtual machine in the Azure cloud. Order it in the Azure portal by navigating to Virtual machines, clicking “Add”, and then searching for “Informix”. Then select the virtual machine type that meets your business needs and launch as many instances as required.  

The HCL Informix virtual machine image includes the latest versions of: 

• Informix (equivalent to IBM Informix Advanced Enterprise Edition) 
• CSDK 
• JDBC 
• Informix Warehouse Accelerator (IWA) 

Note, the HCL Informix engine, CSDK, and JDBC are installed and pre-configured for OLTP environments. IWA will need to be configured to meet requirements.
